Teaching Assistant – Reception/Year 1 (Supply)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a vibrant primary school community in Horsham. The role is term‑time only, Monday to Friday, and focuses on Reception and Year 1 pupils, including those with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils or small groups with learning activities set by the teacher.
• Prepare and develop resources tailored to specific needs.
• Maintain communication with the class teacher regarding pupil progress.
• Assist with planning, assessment and specialist interventions as directed by the Inclusion Leader.
• Promote social and academic integration for SEN pupils.
• Manage behaviour in line with the school’s policy.
• Adapt the learning environment to suit individual requirements.
• Provide midday supervision, set up activities and administer first aid (training provided).
• Participate in professional development and INSET days.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children in an educational setting, especially those with SEN.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Flexibility to undertake a variety of supportive tasks.
