Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Lambeth)

About the role

A friendly one‑form entry primary school in Lambeth is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one SEM‑H (social, emotional and mental health) support for a Year 5 pupil in a mainstream classroom. The role involves helping the pupil manage emotional regulation, maintain clear boundaries and engage positively with learning through a calm, trauma‑aware approach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one SEM‑H support throughout the school day.
• Implement behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques in line with the pupil’s behaviour plan.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide structure and consistent expectations.
• Maintain accurate records of support provided and progress.

Required profile

• Experience supporting pupils with SEM‑H or behavioural needs.
• Ability to stay calm, patient and consistent during challenging moments.
• Understanding of behaviour plans and de‑escalation strategies.
• Strong relationship‑building skills while maintaining clear expectations.
