Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Primary School, Lambeth)

About the role

A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its inclusion team. The role focuses on providing dedicated support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them access learning and develop positive relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group SEMH support within the classroom.
• Build trusting relationships and provide consistent boundaries.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs.
• Promote confidence, resilience and independence.
• Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers and external professionals to monitor progress.

Required profile

• Significant experience supporting children with SEN, especially SEMH.
• Calm, resilient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
• Familiarity with trauma‑informed and restorative approaches.
• Proactive, patient and highly organised.
• Commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
