Teaching Assistant – SEN College (16+)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students aged 16 and over at a SEN college in Sutton. The role focuses on developing communication, social skills and physical abilities through a variety of practical sessions. It is a full‑time position (Monday‑Thursday) with the possibility of progressing to a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Work 1:1 with students to improve speech, motor skills and social interaction.
• Assist in sessions covering swimming, music, art, sports and cooking.
• Support small class groups of 5‑8 learners, emphasizing essential life‑skills.
• Collaborate with therapy teams, including speech therapists and animal‑assisted therapy specialists.

Required profile

• Commitment to stay in the role until at least December 2026.
• Recent (within the last 3 years) experience working with children or young adults in the UK.
• Ability to provide satisfactory professional references covering recent work or training.
• Patient, positive and encouraging attitude.

Required skills

• Experience supporting communication, social interaction and physical development.
