Teaching Assistant – SEN Team (Primary School)

About the role

Join a welcoming primary school in Ashford as a Teaching Assistant within the dedicated SEN team. You will support children with additional needs, helping them access learning and achieve their potential in an inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with special educational needs.
• Deliver targeted intervention sessions to individuals and small groups.
• Assist pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.
• Support behaviour management and promote positive engagement in lessons.
• Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider SEN team to deliver personalised support.
• Contribute to an engaging and inclusive classroom environment when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in an SEN setting.
• Experience supporting children with ASC, SLCN, SEMH or other additional needs.
• Patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
