Teaching Assistant – SEND Provision (Primary School)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in a primary school in Manchester (M9). The role starts in September 2026 and runs for the full academic year, supporting a small group of 6‑8 pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with autism, sensory processing, communication and learning difficulties.
• Deliver differentiated activities using visual timetables, communication aids and sensory strategies.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, transitions and personal care as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team to follow personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
• Maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have additional needs, particularly ASD.
• Patience, empathy and the ability to build trusting relationships.
• Ability to follow structured routines and support sensory strategies.
• Willingness to work closely with multidisciplinary staff.

Required skills

• Use of visual supports and communication aids.
• Implementation of sensory strategies.
• Supporting personal care and emotional regulation.
