Teaching Assistant (SEND) – September Start

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join an inspirational SEN school in Sunderland. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, providing vital support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist pupils with ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD, SEMH, non‑verbal communication and personal care needs.
• Develop an understanding of each pupil’s learning style and needs.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers and other staff to deliver high‑quality support.

Required profile

• A supporting teaching, learning or childcare‑based qualification (desired).
• Experience working with children in UK schools.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
• Resilient, proactive and positive attitude.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
