Teaching Assistant – SEND Specialist (Manchester)

About the role

Reeson Education is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Manchester. You will work with pupils who have very complex and challenging behavioural and additional needs, providing both group and one‑to‑one support.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils in class, larger groups, 1:1 and 2:1 settings.
• Assist teachers with lesson planning and delivery.
• Implement behavioural support strategies and promote emotional regulation.
• Carry out structured and unstructured activities.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and senior leadership.
• Use safe restraint techniques where required, following training.
• Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive presence.
• Collaborate with staff, families and external professionals while upholding safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in a SEND setting.
• Experience working with pupils who have behavioural and complex needs.
• Restraint‑trained or willing to undertake training.
• Calm, patient and resilient attitude.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational abilities.
