Teaching Assistant (SEND) – Support Autistic Pupil

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a newly enrolled pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of autism. The role runs for the full academic year in an outstanding primary school in the Bolton area, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support to the pupil, helping them transition into the new school environment.
• Build a trusting relationship that encourages confidence, independence and classroom engagement.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, SEND staff and parents to tailor support strategies.
• Assist the pupil in accessing learning activities and participating fully in school life.
• Maintain consistency and reassurance throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with autism or other additional needs.
• Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
• Primary‑school experience is desirable but not mandatory.
