About the role
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusion team in Horsham. The role focuses on supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop independence, confidence and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and the SENDCo to ensure pupils can fully access the curriculum.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and support SEND students who are not making expected progress.
- Deliver targeted one‑to‑one or small‑group support to ensure understanding of lessons and homework.
- Act as a key worker for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and support behavioural needs.
- Supervise students during educational visits and other activities.
- Provide in‑class assistance to teachers, adapt classroom materials and monitor student progress.
- Liaise with teachers and the Inclusion team to maintain consistent support.
- Contribute to student progress reviews and EHCP reviews.
- Attend training, maintain confidentiality and provide administrative support where required.
- Assist with small‑group interventions and adapt learning resources for accessibility.
Required profile
- Experience supporting young people, particularly those with SEND (desirable).
- Patient, adaptable and calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
- Ability to motivate and inspire independence in students.
