Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (Part‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs at Wellington Lions Primary Academy. The role is part‑time, permanent, and focuses on delivering engaging learning activities and personalised support during term time.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons for SEND pupils.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing and attendance.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent classroom experience.
• Passion for supporting young people with special educational needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and support staff.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND strategies and interventions.
• Experience using educational resources and classroom technology.
