Teaching Assistant (SEND Support) – Up to 27.5 hrs/week

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusion team at a school in Crawley. The role focuses on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) during term time, up to 27.5 hours per week. You will work closely with teachers and the SEND Coordinator to help students access the curriculum and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and support SEND pupils who are not meeting expected progress.
• Deliver targeted one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance to ensure understanding of lessons and homework.
• Act as a key worker for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), monitoring progress and reporting.
• Support behavioural needs and remove barriers to learning.
• Supervise pupils during educational visits and extracurricular activities.
• Provide in‑class support as directed by teaching staff and work with small groups outside lessons.
• Adapt classroom materials and learning resources to meet individual accessibility requirements.
• Contribute to student progress reviews, including EHCP reviews, and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Assist with administrative tasks and the induction of new Teaching Assistants.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people, preferably those with SEND.
• Patient, adaptable and calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
