Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (Up to 27.5 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Inclusion team. In this role you will provide targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them develop independence, confidence and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and support SEND students who are not making expected progress.
• Deliver tailored strategies to encourage independent learning.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to ensure understanding of lesson content and homework.
• Act as a key worker for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Support behavioural needs and remove barriers to learning.
• Supervise students during educational visits and activities.
• Assist teachers in‑class and with small‑group interventions outside lessons.
• Monitor and report on student progress and engagement.
• Adapt classroom materials to meet individual needs.
• Contribute to student progress reviews and EHCP reviews.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide administrative support as required.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people, particularly those with SEND (desirable).
• Patience, adaptability and calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students toward independence.
