Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (up to 27.5 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusion team in Billingshurst. You will support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them develop independence, confidence and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and support SEND students who are not making expected progress.
• Deliver targeted one‑to‑one or small‑group support to ensure lesson content and homework are understood.
• Act as a key worker for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Support behavioural needs and remove barriers to learning.
• Supervise students during educational visits and activities.
• Provide in‑class assistance as directed by teaching staff.
• Monitor and report on student progress and engagement.
• Adapt classroom materials to meet individual accessibility needs.
• Contribute to student progress reviews and EHCP reviews.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and assist with administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people, preferably those with SEND.
• Patient, adaptable and calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
• Ability to motivate and inspire independence in students.
