Teaching Assistant – Special School (West Sussex)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a friendly special school in the rural village of Compton, West Sussex. This full‑time, long‑term supply position offers the chance to support children with a range of special educational needs and may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils aged 7‑16 with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication challenges.
• Assist in developing and implementing individual educational and behavioural plans.
• Work closely with teachers and staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and report on pupils’ social and academic progress.
• Engage children in varied educational activities that promote wellbeing and learning.

Required profile

• Positive mindset and genuine interest in supporting children with special needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle due to the rural location.
