Teaching Assistant – Support for Autistic Pupil (SEND)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a newly‑joined pupil with an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism in an outstanding primary school in the Bolton area. The role starts in September 2026 and runs for the full academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support to the pupil, helping them transition into the school environment.
• Build a trusting relationship that encourages confidence, independence and engagement.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, SEND staff and parents to deliver consistent support.
• Assist the pupil in accessing learning activities and participating fully in classroom life.
• Promote independence while offering appropriate levels of reassurance and guidance.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with Autism or other additional needs.
• Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
• Desirable experience within a primary school setting.
