Teaching Assistant – Support for Severe Learning Difficulties

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Ware, Hertfordshire. You will work directly with pupils who have Severe Learning Difficulties, helping them develop communication, independence and life‑skills throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties.
• Assist pupils in developing communication, independence and daily living skills.
• Deliver engaging, tailored activities that reinforce learning objectives.
• Provide personal care and support with daily routines as needed.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and social development.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and families to ensure coordinated support.

Required profile

• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
• Caring, patient and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Experience in care, early years, support work or healthcare is welcomed.
