Teaching Assistant (TA2) – Secondary School (Chorley)

About the role

The school is seeking a full‑time Teaching Assistant (TA2) to join its support team from 2 September 2026. The role is initially funded until the October half‑term with a strong possibility of extension to Christmas for the right candidate. You will work in an Outstanding secondary school renowned for inclusion and academic excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class support to pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Support students with SEND, including those on the Autism Spectrum.
• Assist pupils who need additional behavioural and emotional support.
• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group learning interventions.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the wider SEND team.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of SEND and experience with autism.
• Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour.
• Excellent rapport with students and staff.
• Adaptable, resilient and patient.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Youth Worker, Support Worker or Sports Coach.

Required skills

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism.
• Behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
