Teaching Assistant – Term Time (Temporary to Permanent)

About the role

Reed Education is supporting a secondary school in Hastings that seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant. The role is term‑time only and starts on a temporary basis with the aim of progressing to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils, encouraging independence and confidence.
• Deliver specific learning programmes and adapt resources for EAL and SEND students.
• Collaborate with the SENCO and teachers to assess needs, contribute to Individual Learning Plans and EHCPs.
• Assist with related services such as speech, language and physical therapy.
• Observe, record and give feedback on pupil performance.
• Prepare teaching materials, display boards and supervise pupils during breaks and outings.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar educational role is preferred.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and maintain a strong classroom presence.
• Knowledge of inclusive education strategies for EAL and SEND learners.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to child safety and welfare.
