Teaching Assistant / Welfare Assistant – Primary School (Lancaster)

About the role

This part‑time position combines lunchtime welfare support with classroom assistance for a Year 1 class in a welcoming primary school in North Lancaster. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support pupils during lunchtime, Monday‑Friday 12:00‑13:30, promoting positive behaviour and safety.
• Assist the Year 1 teacher on Wednesdays 09:00‑15:00 with learning activities, providing individual and small‑group support.
• Help pupils achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑aged children (school‑based experience desirable).
• Positive, patient and caring attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.

Required skills

• Understanding of basic classroom support techniques.
• Ability to manage groups of children safely during lunch periods.
