Teaching Assistant – Work Experience & Careers (Special School)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs (SEND) in a vibrant Birmingham special school. The role combines classroom assistance with developing work‑experience and careers opportunities for students during term time.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one, small‑group and whole‑class support to help pupils achieve academic and personal goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create work‑experience placements.
- Assist students in finding suitable placements, organise visits and conduct placement reviews.
- Liaise with employers, parents and carers to ensure successful placements.
- Support careers meetings, employability activities and update placement records.
- Help organise careers events and “World of Work” activities.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, organised and passionate about helping young people succeed.
- Previous experience supporting careers, work experience or SEND pupils.
- Full UK driving licence and reliable transport.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Calm, positive and resilient approach with a commitment to safeguarding.
