Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (Primary School)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class in a welcoming primary school in Leyland. The role involves working closely with the class teacher to help pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to reinforce learning.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.
• Help with classroom preparation, organisation and resource management.
• Support pupils’ emotional and social needs and encourage positive behaviour.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑aged children, preferably KS1.
• Caring, patient and proactive attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Relevant educational qualifications or teaching assistant experience (desirable but not essential).
