Teaching Assistant – Year 10 SEN Support (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated one‑to‑one support for a Year 10 student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The role is based in our SEN unit and runs from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, four hours per day, five days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the student with lesson comprehension and active participation, adapting methods to their learning style.
• Support academic progress while addressing emotional needs and building confidence.
• Monitor and report the student’s progress in close collaboration with the SEN team.
• Provide positive reinforcement and tailored encouragement to manage low self‑esteem.
• Maintain a flexible, responsive approach to changing needs and challenges.

Required profile

• Experience using PECCS and supporting SEN students at secondary school level.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and resilience.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building a positive rapport with the student.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving educational requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in special educational needs.
