About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 student with autism and SEMH needs in a welcoming primary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and involves one‑to‑one support within the classroom environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individualized assistance to a male Year 6 student, focusing on academic and emotional development.
- Implement positive behaviour routines and strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
- Teach and model coping strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the student’s inclusion in all classroom activities.
Required profile
- Ideally completed Team Teach training.
- Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and special educational needs.
- Demonstrated genuine care for student wellbeing.
- Ability to remain calm, communicate effectively and use active listening.
