Teaching Assistant – Year 6 (Upper Key Stage 2)

About the role

Reeson Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the M5 area for the upcoming academic year. The role focuses on supporting Year 6 pupils as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary school, with particular emphasis on targeted interventions and SEND support.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within a busy Year 6 classroom.
• Work alongside the class teacher to prepare pupils for SATs and secondary school transition.
• Deliver targeted interventions in English and Maths to small groups and individual pupils.
• Provide classroom support to ensure every child can access learning.
• Support pupils with SEND, adapting learning where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to develop confidence and resilience.
• Assist with classroom organisation, resource preparation and assessment activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff and parents to monitor pupil progress.

Required profile

• Previous experience working within Upper Key Stage 2, particularly Year 6.
• Experience delivering interventions and supporting pupils preparing for SATs.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent classroom management and communication abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Calm, patient and proactive approach.
• Desirable: Experience supporting pupils with SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language needs).

Required skills

What we offer

• Full‑time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
• Hourly rate of £14.25 – £16.65 (PAYE or umbrella).
• Fixed‑term contract for the full academic year with potential permanent placement.
