Teaching Technician – Physiology Lab Support

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and organised Teaching Technician to support undergraduate teaching in Neuroanatomy, Histology and Physiology at the University of Oxford. The role involves preparing practical teaching rooms, maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a safe learning environment. It is a 12‑week, full‑time contract (36.5 hours per week) starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for undergraduate teaching sessions in Neuroanatomy, Histology and Physiology.
• Prepare class materials, solutions and equipment for practical sessions.
• Maintain and tidy laboratory facilities, monitor equipment condition and report issues.
• Liaise with academic staff and the Estates & Facilities Department to meet classroom requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, COSHH, fire safety and other standard operating procedures.
• Assist with the day‑to‑day care and servicing of scientific instruments and storage facilities.

Required profile

• Experience of technical teaching support in a medical or scientific environment.
• Mature, responsible approach with high standards of conduct.
• BTEC or similar qualification in a technical discipline.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and manage consumables.
• Good time management and IT proficiency.
