Team Leader – Canning Line (Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to manage our Canning Line operation in Bedford. You will lead a crew in a fast‑paced, automated environment, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety and health & safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Canning Line Operatives.
• Coordinate safe movement of materials between warehouse, canning and production areas.
• Use SAP handheld devices to manage stock movements and inventory control.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene.
• Support material handling, cleaning and basic autonomous maintenance tasks.
• Report equipment faults or defects promptly.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Food Safety, HACCP, Food Defence and Health & Safety procedures.
• Monitor team performance and drive achievement of production and efficiency targets.
• Promote a positive safety culture and enforce company policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor in warehouse, manufacturing, food or beverage production.
• Experience in a food and/or drinks manufacturing setting.
• Good understanding of HACCP principles and food safety practices.
• Strong leadership, motivation and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and a proactive attitude.
• Physical fitness for manual handling and lifting.
