Team Leader – Children’s Residential Care

About the role
This senior position supports the Deputy and Registered Manager in the day‑to‑day leadership of a children’s residential home in Ascot. You will lead shifts, supervise staff and ensure a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the emotional, social and educational development of each child.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate shift teams, ensuring compliance with care plans, risk assessments and home policies.
- Supervise Residential Support Workers, delivering induction, training and performance feedback.
- Provide direct, person‑centred support to children, encouraging independence, emotional regulation and resilience.
- Assist in creating and reviewing individual care, risk, behaviour and placement plans.
- Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, daily logs and communication notes.
- Promote safeguarding, reporting concerns in line with LADO procedures and relevant legislation.
- Liaise with social workers, therapists, education providers and other professionals involved in each child’s care.
- Support the implementation of therapeutic strategies alongside the in‑house psychologist.
- Oversee medication administration, storage and documentation according to protocol.
- Participate in rota planning, on‑call duties and emergency response as required.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in children’s residential care, preferably in a supervisory or team‑leader role.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and related quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to promote safeguarding and uphold child‑protection policies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to a positive, inclusive ethos.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep‑ins.
