Team Leader – Senior Clinical Practitioner (Band 7)

About the role

This position is based in Croydon and will initially be advertised as a Senior Clinical Practitioner within the Croydon Assessment and Liaison Team. By the end of 2026, the role will evolve into a Band 7 Team Leader within a Neighbourhood Centre, providing senior clinical and operational leadership for community mental health services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct specialist needs assessments, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes for adult mental health service users.
• Deliver brief therapeutic interventions (up to 12 weeks) and signpost clients to appropriate services.
• Supervise and support community practitioners, ensuring high‑quality clinical practice.
• Lead risk management, patient flow, and escalation pathways within the Neighbourhood Centre.
• Drive service development, quality improvement, audit activities, and governance processes.
• Promote staff development, competency growth, and an inclusive team culture aligned with Trust values.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as an autonomous mental health practitioner.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex clinical pathways.
• Strong understanding of community mental health assessment, care planning, and brief interventions.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, audit leadership, and governance.
• Willingness to transition to a Team Leader role as services transform.
