Team Manager - Children with Disabilities Team

About the role

South Tyneside Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead its Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. The role offers the chance to shape high-quality support for children and young people with complex needs and disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of social workers and support staff.
• Oversee casework, ensuring care plans are robust, regularly reviewed and outcome-focused.
• Manage risk and ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and statutory legislation.
• Allocate cases and manage team resources to deliver an efficient, high-quality service.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with health, education and third-sector partners.

Required profile

• Registration with Social Work England.
• Social Work degree (Diploma, BA, BSc or Masters).
• Proven experience managing or supervising a Children with Disabilities or frontline Children’s Services team.
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, SEND reforms and safeguarding frameworks.
