Team Manager – Fostering Support

About the role

The Team Manager – Fostering Support leads the Supervising Social Work Team within Children’s Services, providing strategic and operational direction to ensure high‑quality fostering support and supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Supervising Social Workers delivering guidance, training and support to foster carers.
• Ensure all activities comply with fostering regulations, statutory guidance, council policies and professional standards.
• Allocate, plan, monitor and review work to meet performance targets and quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement through audit, performance monitoring and implementation of improvement plans.
• Recruit, supervise, manage performance and develop staff within the team.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues, partner agencies and external stakeholders to achieve service objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior social work or fostering services leadership.
• Strong understanding of fostering legislation, regulations and best practice.
• Ability to manage teams, coach staff and promote a culture of accountability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
