Team Supervisor – Trade & Retail Operations

About the role

As a Team Supervisor at Plumb Centre, part of the Wolseley Group, you will support the Branch Manager in running the Bedford branch and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations. You will lead a team, interact directly with trade customers, and help drive sales and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with daily operations and take charge in their absence.
• Supervise, train and provide performance feedback to colleagues.
• Serve customers on the trade counter, offering product advice and expertise.
• Develop the customer base, improve retention and expand product mix.
• Identify opportunities to increase profits and recommend improvements.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Perform general warehouse duties, including goods in/out, picking, packing and manual handling of heavy stock such as toilets, sinks, boilers and radiators.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Previous industry or merchant experience is preferable.
• Essential experience in a face‑to‑face customer service or sales environment.
• Willingness to run the branch when the manager is unavailable.
• Comfortable making outbound sales calls to customers.
• Team‑player attitude with the ability to handle a diverse range of tasks.
• Positive, enthusiastic mindset and strong work ethic.
