Technical Accountant – Audit (Interim)

About the role

Ambient People is seeking an interim Technical Accountant to support a London local authority during its audit period. The role is fully remote and provides additional capacity to manage audit requests and liaise with external auditors. The successful candidate will start in early August and work on a temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and respond to requests from external auditors on behalf of the authority.
• Provide day‑to‑day audit support and ensure timely delivery of audit documentation.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules, work‑papers and reconciliations.
• Maintain clear communication with audit teams and internal stakeholders.
• Help identify and resolve audit queries efficiently.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Technical Accountant within the public sector or as an external auditor.
• Strong understanding of audit processes and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
