Technical Accounting Director – London (Hybrid)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing venture‑backed infrastructure business, is building a pan‑European AI‑driven data‑centre platform and preparing for a future US public listing. They are seeking a Technical Accounting Director to create and lead the group’s technical accounting function, reporting to the VP Finance and acting as the US GAAP subject‑matter expert.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Technical Accounting Positions Register and ensure all conclusions are audit‑ready.
• Lead technical accounting analysis for complex transactions, providing US GAAP guidance on leases (ASC 842), financing, guarantees, financial instruments, equity transactions, share‑based compensation (ASC 718), business combinations (ASC 805), and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Develop, implement and maintain a consistent accounting policy framework across US GAAP, IFRS and UK FRS 102 reporting requirements.
• Monitor emerging FASB standards, conduct impact assessments and drive adoption projects.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for external auditors and prepare audit documentation.
• Support transaction structuring, term‑sheet reviews and commercial negotiations by identifying accounting implications.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in US GAAP technical accounting, preferably within a high‑growth, multi‑entity environment.
• Proven ability to design and implement accounting policies and frameworks.
• Strong track record of managing complex transactions and IPO‑readiness activities.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with senior stakeholders, auditors and external advisers.
