Technical Author – Defence S1000D Specialist

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to support a leading defence client on a remote contract. The role focuses on producing and maintaining high‑quality technical publications using the S1000D standard.
Key responsibilities
- Produce and review technical documentation using S1000D Author tools.
- Edit and format publications with XML editing software.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring documentation meets project milestones.
- Review draft publications for quality, accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Support continuous improvement of documentation processes.
Required profile
- Recent, hands‑on experience with S1000D (essential).
- Proficiency with XML editing tools.
- Current DBS clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Own Windows 11‑compatible equipment.
Required skills
- S1000D authoring.
- XML editing.
What we offer
- £25.50 per hour (umbrella rate).
- Initial six‑month contract, with strong likelihood of extension.
- Fully remote working arrangement.
- IR35‑inside contract for contractors.
