Technical Director – Hyperscale Data Centre Construction

About the role

As Technical Director for hyperscale data centre construction across EMEA, you will provide owner‑side technical leadership from design through to operational handover. This senior, site‑focused position requires hands‑on oversight of mechanical, electrical and controls systems on active construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the owner’s technical authority during construction, ensuring compliance with the Basis of Design, specifications and contracts.
• Lead technical reviews of RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals and construction‑stage deliverables.
• Provide constructability expertise during pre‑construction, including sequencing, logistics, temporary works and risk mitigation.
• Oversee QA/QC processes across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls and life‑safety systems.
• Support general contractors and project teams in resolving technical challenges and driving successful execution.
• Coordinate commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing, operational readiness and final handover.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with consultants, contractors, vendors, commissioning agents and authorities.
• Drive standardisation, continuous improvement and value‑engineering initiatives across the EMEA portfolio.

Required profile

• 10+ years delivering data centre, mission‑critical or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Extensive hands‑on, ground‑up experience on active construction sites.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and operational requirements for hyperscale facilities.
