Technical Lead – Commercial Technology

About the role

The Technical Lead will provide technical leadership for the Marketing & Commercial Data capability within Commercial Technology, shaping architecture, guiding technical decisions and ensuring the platform remains secure, resilient and scalable as it evolves towards a modern Salesforce‑based ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and architecture for the Marketing & Commercial Data capability, ensuring alignment with Commercial Technology strategy and FT engineering standards.
• Lead the technical transformation towards Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next, Data 360 and related platforms while maintaining sustainability of existing systems.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Principal Engineer, Principal Architect and other senior leaders to make cross‑capability technical decisions.
• Mentor engineers, promote technical ownership and improve engineering practices within the team.

Required profile

• Senior software engineer with proven experience delivering business‑critical products and platforms.
• Strong ability to shape architecture, manage technical risk and balance short‑term delivery with long‑term sustainability.
• Excellent communication skills to work with product, programme and business stakeholders.
• Motivated to develop engineering capability through mentorship, without direct people‑management responsibilities.
