Technical Manager – Chemical Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Chemist to step into the Technical Manager role within our chemical manufacturing business in Peterborough. You will work closely with the outgoing Technical Director, gaining mentorship and preparing to take over the position within 12‑18 months.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all chemistry‑related activities across the site.
• Manage QHSE responsibilities, including GMP, VMD, ISO standards and health & safety.
• Ensure COMAH compliance and act as Qualified Person (QP) where required.
• Lead laboratory, regulatory and compliance functions.
• Provide technical leadership to manufacturing operations.
• Drive new product development (NPD) and product registration.
• Support product pricing, process route advice and pre‑sales technical input.
• Deliver after‑sales technical support to customers.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified Chemist with experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Background in technical roles such as formulation development, NPD, quality control, regulatory compliance or QHSE.
• Familiarity with COMAH (training can be provided) and upper‑tier chemical safety standards.
