Technical Program Manager – AI Delivery for Public Sector & Defence

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead AI delivery for UK public‑sector and defence customers. You will act as the bridge between Cohere’s frontier AI models and the stringent requirements of government and defence organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end technical program delivery, from initial deployment through production scaling, for public‑sector and defence accounts.
• Translate complex government requirements (security, compliance, data sovereignty, accessibility, bilingualism) into actionable engineering plans.
• Navigate procurement processes, RFP responses and contractual technical obligations.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Applied ML, Forward Deployed Engineering, Platform, Product, Go‑to‑Market) to ensure on‑time delivery of secure AI solutions.

Required profile

• 6+ years of customer‑facing technical or engineering program management experience in AI/ML, enterprise software or technology transformation.
• Proven track record delivering multi‑stakeholder programs with strict compliance and security requirements.
• Experience working with UK government or defence organisations and understanding of data sovereignty, privacy and security classifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certifications a plus.

Required skills

• Enterprise software deployment architectures (cloud, on‑premises, hybrid, air‑gapped).
• Large Language Models, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, fine‑tuning and model evaluation.
• API integration, data pipelines and ML operations.
• Cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS GovCloud.
• Project management methodologies (PMP, PgMP) and government‑specific delivery frameworks.
