Technical Support Engineer – Environmental Monitoring

About the role

Our client is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join their specialist engineering team in Bedford. You will provide first‑ and second‑line support for industry‑leading noise, vibration and air‑quality monitoring systems, helping customers maximise the value of cutting‑edge instrumentation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first and second‑line technical support via phone, email and remote access.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and commission specialist monitoring equipment and associated software.
• Assist customers with installation, calibration, firmware updates and ongoing technical assistance.
• Prepare equipment for dispatch, perform servicing, repairs and manage hire arrangements.
• Provide customer training, produce technical documentation and support demonstrations and site visits.
• Maintain accurate service records.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Audio, Acoustical Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in technical support, field service or a similar engineering role.
• Experience with scientific, industrial or electronic instrumentation is preferred.
• Strong fault‑finding skills across hardware and software.
• Excellent communication with a customer‑focused approach.
• Well‑organised, proactive and eager to develop technical expertise.
