Technical Support Officer (Building Control)

About the role

The Technical Support Officer will be the first point of contact for Building Control enquiries, providing professional administrative and technical assistance to customers and surveyors. The role is office‑based two days a week with flexible working for the remaining days.

Key responsibilities

• Handle Building Control enquiries via phone, email and face‑to‑face.
• Process Building Regulation applications accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain and update customer records in internal systems.
• Support Building Control Surveyors with administrative and technical tasks.
• Resolve non‑complex customer issues and escalate complex queries appropriately.
• Ensure compliance with Data Protection legislation.
• Assist with continuous improvement of processes and service delivery.
• Monitor enquiries through to resolution and contribute to reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) or relevant experience.
• Previous experience in a customer service or administrative environment.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise workload.
• Confident using Microsoft Office and quick to learn new IT systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, customer‑focused attitude.
