Technical Support Specialist – Automotive

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established automotive organisation to add an experienced Technical Support Specialist to its Aftersales function. The role supports a nationwide retailer network, resolves complex vehicle issues and contributes to continuous product improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of technical cases from investigation through to resolution.
• Provide technical support to retailers and repairers across the UK.
• Conduct on‑site investigations and produce detailed reports.
• Manage multiple technical concerns simultaneously and prioritise them.
• Escalate complex issues to specialist engineering teams when required.
• Support product quality investigations with technical feedback and analysis.
• Assist customer support teams in assessing technical aspects of customer concerns.
• Review and evaluate technical information and documentation.
• Develop and deliver technical training sessions, presentations and workshops.
• Create and maintain technical communications, diagnostic procedures and support materials.
• Provide technical guidance to warranty and aftersales teams.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of technical support processes.

Required profile

• Formal technical or engineering qualification, Master Technician status or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive technical support, diagnostics, engineering or as a Master Technician.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills across modern vehicle systems.
• Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and technical analysis tools.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Customer‑focused, proactive problem‑solver.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Desirable: qualifications or experience with hybrid and electric vehicles and experience supporting dealer/service networks.
