Technician in Animal Care

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Technician in Animal Care to join the Animal Resource Centre at the beautiful Lackham Campus in Lacock. The role supports the day‑to‑day running of the centre, ensuring high standards of animal welfare while providing practical learning environments for students.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily care, feeding, handling and enrichment for a diverse range of animal species.
• Monitor animal health, report concerns and assist veterinary treatment when needed.
• Maintain clean, safe and well‑organised animal accommodation in line with legislative and welfare standards.
• Prepare feeds, bedding, equipment and practical resources for teaching sessions.
• Assist with the upkeep of enclosures, facilities and equipment.
• Support students during practical sessions, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques.

Required profile

• Experience in an animal care or husbandry setting.
• Commitment to high standards of animal welfare and health monitoring.
• Ability to work a 7‑day rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Willingness to work on‑site at the campus.

• Salary £25,304 rising to £25,835 per year.
