Technician/Instructor – Sport & Uniformed Protective Services (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Bournemouth & Poole College is seeking an enthusiastic Technician/Instructor to support its Sport & Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) department on a fixed‑term basis. Working in brand‑new facilities, you will help deliver practical learning experiences for students pursuing careers in sport, fitness, coaching and protective services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and maintain equipment and resources for practical lessons and assessments.
• Support sport, fitness, coaching and UPS activities across a range of programmes.
• Ensure sports facilities, equipment stores and learning spaces are safe, organised and well maintained.
• Manage equipment inventories, bookings, stock control and resource records.
• Assist students and staff with the safe use of fitness and sports equipment.
• Contribute to enrichment activities, open events, trips, competitions and fixtures.
• Support health and safety processes, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Maintain practical teaching resources and support curriculum administration.

Required profile

• Passion for sport, fitness, coaching, outdoor education or public services.
• Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (or equivalent).
• Relevant experience or training in sport, fitness, coaching, public services or a related field.
• Experience supporting practical activities, facilities, equipment or learning environments.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive, professional and positive attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety and delivering an excellent student experience.
