Technology Services Lead (Hybrid) – London

About the role

FDM Group is seeking a Technology Services Lead to join a London‑based Application Production Services Engineering team supporting an electronic trading platform for a major bank. The role is a 12‑month contract, hybrid working, and involves ensuring the stability, availability and performance of low‑latency equities trading systems.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of production services, leading incident response, triage, recovery and stakeholder communication.
• Partner with traders, front‑office users and operations teams to manage production issues and provide timely updates during critical events.
• Act as senior escalation point and deputise for the Team Lead within a team of 10 engineers.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risks across applications, infrastructure and processes to improve platform stability.
• Maintain rigorous change‑management practices, especially during market hours.
• Lead root‑cause investigations, drive permanent resolutions and reduce technical debt.
• Champion automation, monitoring and tooling enhancements to increase operational efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with global technology teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting business‑critical trading systems in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong background in UNIX/Linux production environments.
• Hands‑on scripting and automation using Python and/or Shell.
• Excellent communication skills for incident coordination and stakeholder updates.
