Technology Transformation Director – Target Operating Model

About the role

This 12‑month contract position is for a senior Technology Transformation Director who will lead the design and delivery of a Target Operating Model (TOM) for a large‑scale technology function. Working in a hybrid setting (London office and remote), you will shape the future‑state operating model and drive enterprise‑wide change across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and develop the future‑state Technology Target Operating Model.
• Evaluate operating model options, conduct impact assessments and select the preferred target state.
• Mobilise and structure the transformation programme, aligning internal capabilities with external partners.
• Establish governance, assurance and decision‑making frameworks to support execution.
• Lead multiple inter‑dependent workstreams and manage programme risk, dependencies and enterprise impact.
• Oversee third‑party suppliers and consulting partners to ensure delivery excellence and value realisation.
• Develop and maintain investment‑grade business cases, financial plans and governance artefacts.
• Create integrated end‑to‑end programme plans from mobilisation through implementation and embedding.
• Craft executive‑level communications to secure stakeholder alignment and confidence.

Required profile

• Proven track record of leading large‑scale technology transformation programmes in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong consulting pedigree with experience in technology operating model design.
• Ability to operate confidently at executive and board level while maintaining delivery focus.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams, external suppliers and high‑value contracts.
• Excellent risk, dependency and financial management capabilities.
