Telecoms Field Engineer – 6 month contract in Scotland

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Telecoms Field Engineer for a 6‑month contract to support a critical energy network across Scotland. The role involves installing, commissioning, maintaining and supporting IP and telecom infrastructure in a hands‑on, field‑based environment.
Key responsibilities
- Installing and commissioning EMC cabinets, DC power equipment, cable containment, SWA/CAT5/multi‑pair cabling, IP telecom equipment, and Cisco/Alcatel switches and routers.
- Testing circuits across protection services (VF, X21, C37.94) and bearers (PDH, SDH, IP LAN & WAN), including fibre, pilot cable and GPS timing tests.
- Providing 1st line support and troubleshooting on a 24x7x365 rota, handling service provisioning, transfers, cessations and fault resolution.
- Conducting site surveys, risk assessments and producing high‑quality SR and handover documentation.
- Performing routine maintenance inspections on battery chargers, optical fibre, pilot cables, radio systems and updating CTC records.
Required profile
- Valid SPEN authorisations: WI‑2, EN‑1, WL‑1.5, 1.8, SB‑2.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
- IOSH and EUSR certification.
- Proven experience in telecoms and IP infrastructure.

- Radio systems (Westica, Mimo Max, Cienna).
