Telephone Collector

About the role

We are looking for a Telephone Collector to join our Sheffield‑based team within the Bristow & Sutor Group. You will work on a shift pattern between 8 am and 8 pm, handling inbound and outbound calls to negotiate repayment of overdue debts.

Key responsibilities

• Make and receive telephone calls from businesses and individuals to arrange repayment of outstanding debts.
• Negotiate repayment solutions and handle disputed debts with resilience and professionalism.
• Enter accurate records of conversations and repayment agreements into the customer database.
• Capture customers’ affordability information correctly to ensure sustainable repayments.
• Follow debt‑collection processes and quality guidelines, treating customers fairly.
• Work towards personal and team targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a call‑centre or credit‑control environment.
• Minimum two years in collections, debt recovery or sales.
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Comfortable working to targets and handling difficult conversations.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and ability to ask the right questions.
• Good IT aptitude and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Required skills

• Experience using a dialler system.
