Temp to Perm Sous Chef

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Sous Chef to join a beautiful country‑house hotel in Gloucester on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis. The role starts immediately and offers the chance to work within a dynamic restaurant and a busy conference & banqueting operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and lead the team in their absence.
• Prepare and present dishes to the hotel’s brand standards, following spec sheets.
• Support the development of seasonal menus and contribute creative presentation ideas.
• Manage stock levels, ordering and rota planning.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and health & safety throughout the kitchen.
• Train and develop kitchen staff, conducting performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with food safety legislation and maintain required documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a hotel kitchen.
• Passion for producing high‑quality food consistently.
• Strong organisational and stock‑management abilities.
• Commitment to health & safety and food safety standards.
