Temporary Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper (3-6 months)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Temporary Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to support our finance team in Warrington for a 3‑6 month contract. This full‑time position offers the chance to work on a varied range of accounting tasks and may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase and sales ledger invoices
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Assist with credit control and payment allocation
• Support month‑end procedures and maintain accurate financial records
• Help prepare VAT returns when required
• Provide general finance administration and ad‑hoc support to the team

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeping role
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities
• AAT qualification or studying towards AAT is advantageous but not essential

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks
• Strong Excel skills
